After landing at Albuquerque International Airport, you will be greeted by MS staff as you collect your bags. We will depart by charter bus to Santa Fe (90 mins). After checking in to your room at the Hilton Santa Fe Buffalo Thunder, the group will gather for a welcome reception and dinner.
On Friday morning, cyclists will participate in a 46 mile fully-supported bike ride through Indian tribal land in North Western Santa Fe and into the Puye Cliffs. Lunch will be provided at mile 19. Guests that are not participating in the bike ride can take a shuttle to meet cyclists for lunch.
Friday’s dinner is on your own in Santa Fe. There are a couple restaurants in the resort, but most will require hotel shuttle service or alternate transportation into town.
On Saturday, enjoy a 22 mile morning ride or explore one of the many activities in Santa Fe or at the resort on your own. There are a number of amenities and activities at the resort including golf, a casino, fitness center, spa and multiple pools to enjoy during the day. The hotel’s shuttle service can also take you into the Santa Fe Plaza which is surrounded by restaurants, shop and museums.
As an optional group excursion, you can join us for hiking at Bandelier National Monument on Saturday morning. The park protects over 33,000 acres of beautiful canyon and mesa country as well as evidence of a human presence going back over 11,000 years as evidenced by remaining petroglyphs, dwellings carved into the soft rock cliffs, and standing masonry walls. From the visitor’s center, the main loop trail is 1.2 miles leading through excavated archeological sites with options to climb into a number of dwellings. A portion of this trail is handicapped accessible. Other trails in this area include the 3 mile round-trip Falls Trail to the beautiful Upper Falls and various trails of different lengths and difficulty leading up to the mesa tops. Afterwards a picnic lunch will be provided.
TOC weekend wraps up on Saturday evening with dinner at the Buffalo Thunder Resort. Stay tuned for more details!
